Grand River Islands - Week 2
The second holiday Friday saw rain in the forecast so a local approach was more appropriate. I launched the kayak on the grandriver with intent to explore a new spot Ive always wanted to check out. With fly rod in hand I poked around the train bridge abuttments and drifted downstream along the islands beachy edge. Near the southern tip I found stacks of carp but no interest in the armoured worm. The rain began and it became difficult to see the fish so i pulled into the island and setup the shelter and bait rods. I waited out the rain and not even a bleep of the buzzer was heard, a complete blank, but new swims found are not a total loss. Later in the week, on the way to work, i stopped by one of my favourite local spring haunts. There werent many fish to be found but under the dam there were a few. First cast into the froth produced this noce common. A 30 minute battle current made me late for work, cest la vie!
