Hespeler Mill Pond
I floated the stretch of the Speed below the American Standard dam in Hespeler before but never above. There’s a nice put in off spring st with a parking lot and a floating dock. Shallow flats covered with Lilly pads fill in most of the pond and the river carves a channel down the south bank line with downed trees, perfect habitat for carp and bass. It wasn’t long before I spotted some, but lack of practice maneuvering the kayak caused some blown opportunities. Eventually I found an area full of feeding carp and got the armoured worm into the zone.
