Tommy Thompson Park - Week 1
I started spring 2024 by booking 8 Fridays off , May through June. The first trip was to an old faithful spot, Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto. Its a man made land mass in lake ontario off the coast of Toronto built with construction waste to provide bird and fish habitat along with public outdoor space. I paddled across from Cherry Beach on my kayak as the park is closed on weekdays. After spending some time in the first bay and losing one fish under the boat, I moved to the bay of wonder and the carp pond. There were several large carp at the first entrance but not until the second entrance did a fish react favourably to my fly, a large black merkin crab. An intense battle ensued in the bay of wonder until finally success , she was in the net. After a few pictures, back into the lake she went and my paddle back to Cherry beach started. What a great way to start May, I will be back!
